Effect of enteral nutrition on pulmonary function and nutritional status in elderly patients with stable chronic obstructive pulmonary disease / 中国基层医药

ABSTRACT
Objective To study the effect of enteral nutrition on patients with stable chronic obstructive pulmonary disease pulmonary function.Methods From June 2016 to June 2017,70 elderly patients with COPD in Zhejiang Rongjun Hospital were selected as the research objects,and divided into control group and observation group by using random double blind method,with 35 cases in each group.The control group received routine treatment,and the observation group was treated with enteral nutrition support based on the conventional foundation treatment.Before and after treatment,the indexes of pulmonary function [(VC),vital capacity (MVV),maximal ventilation second forced expiratory volume (FEV1),maximum breathing middle flow (MMEF)],the nutritional evaluation indexes (serum total protein,albumin,prealbumin,transferrin),physical improvement (body weight,arm circumference,arm muscle circumference,triceps skinfold thickness) of the two groups were observed.Resuits After treatment,the VC [(2.48 ± 0.74) L],MVV [(50.59 ± 2.97) L/min],FEV1 [(1.39 ± 0.72) L],MMEF [(2.59 ± 0.24) L/s] of the observation group were significantly better than those of the control group [(2.17 ± 0.34) L,(48.88 ± 2.46) L/min,(1.13 ±0.11)L,(2.30 ±0.17)L/s],the differences were statistically significant (t =2.25,2.62,2.11,5.83,all P < 0.05);The serum total protein [(66.79 ± 1.54) g/L],albumin [(35.46 ± 3.66) g/L],prealbumin [(0.32 ±0.25)g/L],transferring[(2.26 ± 0.49)g/L] of the observation group were better than those of the control group [(60.51 ± 1.61) g/L,(31.22 ± 3.21) g/L,(0.20 ± 0.21) g/L,(2.03 ± 0.41) g/L],the differences were statistically significant(t =16.68,5.15,0.17,2.13,all P <0.05);The body mass [(19.46 ± 1.87) kg/cm2],hiplines [(27.51 ±2.15)cm],upper arm muscle circumference [(27.46 ±3.12)cm],triceps skinfold thickness[(1.23 ±0.31) cm] of the observation group were better than those of the control group [(17.56 ± 1.60) kg/cm2,(25.16 ± 3.84) cm,(24.97 ± 3.13) cm,(1.08 ± 0.23) cm],there were significant differences between the two groups (t =4.57,3.16,3.33,2.30,all P < 0.05).Conclusion Enteral nutrition can improve the nutritional status of elderly patients with stable COPD,improve the lung function,which is worthy of popularization and application.
