ABSTRACT
Objective To explore the value of ultrafast imaging technique in evaluation of carotid stiffness in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).Methods Totally 48 COPD patients (COPD group) and 45 volunteers (control group) underwent carotid ultrasonography and ultrasound ultrafast imaging for measuring pulse wave velocity (ufPWV) of carotid artery, including beginning of the systole (PWV-BS) and end of the systole (PWV-ES).The statistical analysis was performed. Results Compared with control group,PWV-BS and PWV-ES increased in COPD group (both P<0.05).ufPWV of COPD patients had negative correlation with the force expiratory volume in 1 s (PWV-BSr=-0.40,P<0.01;PWV-ESr=-0.41,P<0.01).Conclusion Ultrafast imaging technique can be used to evaluate carotid arteries;Stiffness in patients with COPD,providing important basis for clinical treatment and prognosis evaluation.
