ABSTRACT
synovial chondromatosis is most frequently found in the knee, they have been reported in temporomandibular joint. Synovial chondromatosis is a cartilaginous metaplasia of the mesenchymal remnants of the synovial tissue of the joint. It is characterized by the formation of cartilaginous nodules (loose bodies) in the synovium and within the articular space. Pain and swelling are the most common symptoms of the synovial chondromatosis and somtimes deviation of the mandible toward the unafected side during motion may occur. When these lesions becom symptomatic, they should be removed surgically.
