ABSTRACT
Objective:
To investigate the clinical and pathological characteristics of breast intracystic papillary carcinoma (IPC) and discuss its prognosis and treatment. Methods:
The clinical and follow-up information of 49 patients with breast IPC was collected to analyze the clinicopathological characteristics and explore the influences on prognosis. Results:
The median age of 49 patients with breast IPC was 64 years old (range 29-79 years). The median follow-up time was 61 months (range 24-84 months). The 5-year overall survival and disease-free survival rates were 75.0% and 60.6%, respectively. The 5-year overall survival rates of 12 patients receiving breast-conserving surgery and 37 patients receiving mastectomy were 76.9% and 73.8%, respectively (P = 0.935).Conclusion:
Breast IPC is a rare breast malignancy and has been perceived to have a good prognosis. Breast-conserving surgery and mastectomy have been utilized in the treatment of breast IPC.
