ABSTRACT
The clinical case report is a popular type of paper for clinicians. Although the evidence level of the case report is not high in evidence-based medicine, it has special value for clinicians. Compared to a lengthy paper, a case report seems simpler; but in fact, it is not easy to write a high-quality case report. To standardize the writing and publication of case report, some international medical groups have developed specific guidelines for case report writing, and the CARE guidelines developed by the CARE group is one of them. In addition, many international leading medical journals also put forward specific requirements on case report writing in introductions for authors. Therefore, this paper introduces the CARE guidelines and 2016 CARE Checklist, and summarizes the writing requirements on case report of some international leading medical journals, in order to provide assistance to improve the domestic authors' skills for writing a case report.
