ABSTRACT

Objective:

To study the chemical constituents from the aerial part of Picris davurica and their anti-oxidative activity.

Methods:

Compounds were isolated by column chromatography of MCI, Sephadex LH-20, and ODS; Their structures and anti-oxidative activity were elucidated by NMR, MS, and DPPH methods.

Results:

On the basis of 1D-NMR, 2D-NMR, and ESI-MS data, eleven compounds were identified as caffeic acid (1), caftaric acid (2), chlorogenic acid (3), chicoric acid (4), 5-O-caffeoylshikimic acid (5), 3,4-di-O-caffeoylquinic acid (6), 3,5-di-O-caffeoylquinic acid (7), 4,5-di-O-caffeoylquinic acid (8) 4-O-caffeoylquinic acid (9), 5-O-caffeoylquinic acid (10), and 3,4-dihydroxy-6-(3,4-dihydroxy-E-styryl)-2-pyron-3-O-β-D-glucopyranoside (11).

Conclusion:

All the compounds reported in this study are isolated from the aerial part of P. hieracioides for the first time and show certain anti-oxidative activity.
