Apoyo familiar y adherencia al tratamiento en personas afectadas de tuberculosis / Family support and adherence to treatment in people affected by tuberculosis

RESUMEN

RESUMEN Fundamento La adherencia al tratamiento en tuberculosis es relevante, tanto para que su efecto sea exitoso, como para limitar la aparición de la resistencia a los medicamentos. Objetivo: determinar la relación entre el apoyo familiar y la adherencia al tratamiento en pacientes con tuberculosis. Métodos: estudio descriptivo y correlacional, con una muestra conformada por 38 pacientes con diagnóstico de tuberculosis, que recibieron tratamiento en el Hospital Manuel Ángel Higa Arakaki, a quienes se les aplicó un cuestionario para evaluar el grado de apoyo familiar y nivel de adherencia al tratamiento, el cual fue adaptado para personas afectadas por tuberculosis. Los datos recabados fueron procesados mediante la prueba Tau b de Kendall. Resultados: el 44,74 % de los pacientes manifestó un apoyo familiar medianamente favorable, frente a un 36,84 % en los cuales el apoyo familiar fue desfavorable. Así, el 47,4 % de los pacientes cumplió medianamente con el tratamiento, mientras que el 29 % mostró una baja adherencia a este. Conclusión: el apoyo familiar que reciben los pacientes afectados por tuberculosis, tratados en el Hospital Manuel Ángel Higa Arakaki de Satipo, está relacionado significativamente con su grado de adherencia al tratamiento.

ABSTRACT Background: Adherence to treatment in tuberculosis is relevant, both for its effect to be successful and to limit the emergence of drug resistance. Objective: to determine the relationship between family support and adherence to treatment in patients with tuberculosis. Methods: descriptive and correlational study, with a sample made up of 38 patients diagnosed with tuberculosis, who received treatment at the Manuel Ángel Higa Arakaki Hospital, to whom a questionnaire was applied to assess the degree of family support and level of adherence to treatment, which was adapted for people affected by tuberculosis. The data collected were processed using Kendall's Tau b test. Results: 44.74 % of the patients showed moderately favorable family support, compared to 36.84% in whom family support was unfavorable. Thus, 47.4 % of the patients were moderately compliant with the treatment, while 29 % showed low adherence to it. Conclusion: the family support received by patients affected by tuberculosis, treated at the Manuel Ángel Higa Arakaki Hospital in Satipo, is significantly related to their degree of adherence to treatment.
