ABSTRACT
Despite the great emergence of this pandemic caused by the SARSCoV-2 virus in our country and in the world, several options of diagnostic methodologies have been created to assist us in the detection of this agent, helping to prevent spread, detect who has had the disease and, in some cases, help to start early treatment. The serological diagnosis of Covid-19 currently available, detects the presence of antibodies, IgA, IgM and IgG, which are specific proteins produced in response to infections, thus showing an immune response to the virus. We emphasize that the definitive diagnosis of Covid-19 must be established by combining several tests with clinicalepidemiological information. The results of these tests are also important for detecting infections in people who had few or no symptoms, and despite the possibility of false results, its cost-benefit is quite interesting compared to the gold standard of diagnosis which is the high-cost, RT-PCR, since being more accessible, serology also provides an estimate of the global epidemiology of the disease, when mass testing occurs.
