Impacto de la introducción del cubrebocas contra el COVID-19: una revisión narrativa / Impact of the introduction of the mask against COVID-19: a narrative review

RESUMEN

RESUMEN El objetivo de este trabajo fue identificar el impacto de la introducción del cubrebocas contra el COVID-19. Se realizó una revisión de la literatura disponible en una base de datos especializada (PubMed), la cual se ajustó a las directrices enmarcadas en la metodología PRISMA (1). Se definieron ecuaciones de búsqueda bajo los términos MeSH humanos (MeSH D006801), COVID-19 (MeSH D000086382), máscaras (MeSH D008397), SARS-CoV-2 (MeSH D000086402) y diseño de equipos (MeSH D004867), utilizando el carácter booleano AND. Con estas ecuaciones se buscaron artículos publicados en 2020 se recuperaron 676 registros en total, de los cuales se eligieron 82 que abordan el tema de interés y se incluyeron en la revisión final 49 artículos que cumplían con todos los criterios de inclusión y exclusión definidos. Los resultados sugieren que la introducción de mascarillas tuvo un impacto positivo para reducir el riesgo de COVID-19 y el uso inadecuado del cubrebocas es un factor de riesgo.

ABSTRACT

ABSTRACT The objective of this work was to identify the impact of the introduction of the mask against COVID-19. A review of the literature available in a specialized database, PubMed, was carried out, which was adjusted to the guidelines framed in the PRISMA methodology (1). Search equations were defined under the terms MeSH human (MeSH D006801), COVID-19 (MeSH D000086382), masks (MeSH D008397), SARS-CoV-2 (MeSH D000086402) and equipment design (MeSH D004867), using the Boolean AND character. With these equations, articles published in 2020 were searched, recovering 676 records in total, choo-sing 82 that address the topic of interest and including in the final review 49 articles that met all the defined inclusion and exclusion criteria. The results suggest that the introduction of masks had a positive impact on reducing the risk of COVID-19 and the inappropriate use of masks is a risk factor.
