Política e cultura: a relação entre indivíduo e estrutura na perspectiva das teorias do comportamento eleitoral / Policy and cultur: the relationchip between individual and structure form de perspective of theories of electoral behavior

RESUMO

O artigo pretende oferecer contribuição ao tema da relação existente entre a consciência individual e as determinações estruturais no processo de construção dos padrões de comportamento dos sujeitos, em especial no campo político/eleitoral. Para isso, realiza uma reflexão centrada na tentativa de compreender, teoricamente, como se dá o processo de determinação das escolhas individuais e qual o peso de elementos subjetivos e das condições estruturais nessas determinações. De início, busca-se delimitar, em termos teóricos, o debate sobre a relação entre indivíduo e estrutura na teoria social de orientação marxista, priorizando as perspectivas de dois autores que têm se debruçado sobre o tema com importantes contribuições, quais sejam, Edward P. Thompson e Ellen M. Wood. Em seguida, e partindo das contribuições teóricas desses autores, trata-se das principais abordagens sobre o comportamento político-eleitoral, para então refletir sobre como essas podem ser situadas em relação às abordagens apresentadas e, eventualmente, ter seu potencial explicativo ampliado a partir delas

ABSTRACT

The article intends to offer a contribution to the theme of the relationship between individual consciousness and structural determinations in the process of building the patterns of behavior of subjects, especially in the political/electoral field. For this, it carries out a reflection centered on the attempt to understand, theoretically, how the process of determining individual choices takes place and what is the weight of subjective elements and structural conditions in these determinations. Initially, we seek to theoretically delimit the debate on the relationship between individual and structure in marxist orientation social theory, especially from two authors who have focused on the theme with important contributions, namely, Edward P. Thompson and Ellen M. Wood. Then, and based on the theoretical contributions of these authors, we deal with the main approaches to political-electoral behavior, to then reflect on how these can be situated in relation to the approaches presented and, eventually, have their explanatory potential expanded from them
