Objective:
to evaluate the vertical and internal marginal leakage between the cement cylinder and the metallic coping using three different types of cements, one temporary cement, calcium hydroxide cement (Dycal, Dentsply) and two definitive cements, zinc phosphate cement (SSWhite) and resin cement (Relyx Unicem, 3M Espe). Material andmethods:
30 specimens were prepared, constituted by the cement cylinder and the metallic coping, divided into 3 groups (n=10) which received different luting agents. The samples were submitted to thermocycling and then hemisected. These were then evaluated in a scanning electron microscope (SEM) with 420 x magnification. Results:
there were no statistically signifi cant differences between the vertical misfit values for the three cements, however, for the internal fit, the largest discrepancy was obtained by the calcium hydroxide cement. Conclusion:
the temporary cement showed similar behavior to definitive cements on the marginal adaptation, but its internal misfit was higher.
