Relação entre funcionalidade e autopercepção de saúde entre idosos jovens e longevos brasileiros / Relationship between functionality and self-perception of health among brazilian elderly and long-lived people

O objetivo deste estudo é verificar a relação entre funcionalidade e autopercepção de saúde (APS) entre idosos jovens e longevos. Foi realizada uma análise secundária dos dados da Pesquisa Nacional de Saúde do Brasil de 2013. A regressão linear foi utilizada para verificar a correlação entre APS e funcionalidade, avaliada pelo nível de independência para atividades básicas (ABVD) e instrumentais de vida diária (AIVD). Participaram 11.177 idosos. Quanto maior a idade, menor o nível de AIVD (p<0,001) e de ABVD (p<0,001). Melhores níveis de funcionalidade correlacionavam com melhores níveis de APS. Essa relação perdia a intensidade ao comparar níveis mais elevados de APS (boa e muito boa), exceto para a AIVD entre as idades de 80-89 e 90+, que apresentaram melhores níveis de AIVD entre os níveis mais elevados de APS. Observou-se diferenças no comportamento da relação entre funcionalidade e a APS em diferentes faixas etárias.

ABSTRACT

This study aims to verify the relation between functionality and self-perception of health (SPH) in elderly and long-lived people. It was made a secondary analysis of data from the Brazilian National Health Survey (NHS) from 2013. The linear regression was used to verify the possible correlation between SPH and functionality, which was assessed by the level of independence in activities of daily living (ADL) and instrumental activities of daily living (IADL). 11.177 elderly people participated in the NHS. Higher the age, lower the level of IADL (p <0.001), the same for the ADL (p <0.001). Better levels of functionality were correlated with better levels of SPH. This relationship lost intensity when comparing higher levels of PHC (good and very good), except for IADL in people between the ages of 80-89 and 90+, who presented better levels of IADL between the higher levels of PHC. We noted differences in the behavior of the relation between functionality and PHC in different age groups.
