A relação médico-paciente no contexto da saúde como produto / The doctor-patient relation in the context of health seen as a product

RESUMO

O presente artigo propõe uma revisão teórica da relação médico-paciente no contexto da saúde como produto sociocultural da pós-modernidade. Foi realizada busca na Internet nos bancos de dados PubMed, Lilacs e Biblioteca Cochrane com as palavras-chave relação médico-paciente, saúde, produto e pós-modernidade. Livros textos de Medicina e também obras referenciais de Filosofia, Sociologia e Marketing foram consultadas. A relação médico-paciente foi analisada a partir da conceituação de saúde e produto. Assim, ao considerar-se a saúde como produto da sociedade de consumo, discutiu-se as modificações ocorridas no atendimento médico; nas relações entre o profissional da saúde (médico) e o paciente (cliente).

ABSTRACT

This article presents a theoretical review of the doctor-patient relation in the context of health as a socio-cultural product of postmodernity. We searched the data bases Pub Med, Lilacs and the Cochrane Library in the Internet, using the key words doctor-patient relation, health, product and post-modernity. We also searched medical textbooks as well as reference works in the fields of philosophy, sociology and marketing. The doctor-patient relation was analyzed based on the concepts health and product. Thus, by considering health a product of the consumer society, one discussed the changes that occurred in medical care and in the relation between the health professional (doctor) and the patient (client).
