ABSTRACT
Catalytic Hydrodechlorination of DDT [1, 1-bis[4-chlorophenyl]-2, 2, 2-trichloroethane] was carried out in an alcohol solution containing base compound in the presence of carbon supported transition metals [Fe, Co, Ni]. It was found that dechlorination of DDT to chlorine-free product effectively occurred in a 2-propanol/methanol [991 v/v] solution of a base compound NaOH in the presence of carbon supported Fe-Ni catalyst at temperature below 82°C for 4 hrs. At the concentration 3.5-3500 mg/ml were converted within the detection limit of electron capture detection gas chromatography [GC-ECD]
