ABSTRACT
Seroimmunological examination of all acute flaccid paralytic cases attending Alexandria's main pediatric hospitals in 1992 was done and their vaccination history was taken. It was revealed that 75% of the cases were from rural areas. The male to female ratio was 2.61 and 75% of the cases were below one year of age. Most of the paralytic cases were due to poliovirus 3 [65.4%], followed by poliovirus 1 [36.1%]. None of the fully immunized cases showed protective IgG antibodies against poliovirus 3 and 28.6% of them did not show any IgG against the 3 poliovirus strains
