Combined anal dilatation and rubber band ligation. Therapeutic choice for internal hemorrhoids

During a 2 year period from January 1990 to January 1992, in Al-Gubail hospital and king Fahd Hospital Al Kaseem Saudi Arabia 100 cases of first to third degree internal haemorrhois were treated with a combination of rubber band ligation and manual anal dilatation. The results were excellent with no evidence of immediate postoperative complication, except for one instance of recurrence. Based on our results we are of the opinion, that anal dilatation along with band ligation, is the best choice of treatment of internal haemorthoids
