Evaluation of the results of conservative treatment of fracture scaphoid

ABSTRACT

After treating 24 patients with fracture of the waist of the scaphoid and their follow up, these considerations could be recommendedr. 1. Conservative treatment is the main line of treatment of recent fracture scaphoid. Operative treatment is only confined to complications. 2. When fracture scaphoid is suspected clinically but not radiologically, the case should be treated as fracture scaphoid till the diagnosis is confirmed by another X-ray two weeks later. 3. Immobilization in Bohler below elbow scaphoid plaster with inclusion of the thumb is the rule while extension of the plaster to above the elbow is not essential. 4. Simple below elbow plaster without inclusion of the thumb has no place in the treatment of fracture scaphoid
