ABSTRACT
Performance appraisal of nurses is necessary to insure optimal patients care. Personality traits of nurses working in special care units can be a major determinant of performance due to the tremendous pressure and high of degree stress. The aims of the study was to evaluate the performance of nurses working in special care units and to find a relationship between their personality traits and performance. The study was carried out in the university hospitals, the sample consisted of all nurses working in the special care units 9226]. The tool used were performance appraisal sheet and Middle sex personality inventory. Results revealed that nurses performance was below average and differed according to their position and areas of speciality. A significant positive-correlation was found between obsessive traits and performance
