Ketoconazole therapy for fungal keratitis

ABSTRACT
14 patients with fungal Keratitis were treated with combined topical and oral ketoconazole, a new antifungal agent. In 10 cases [71.4%] healing and regression of corneal ulcer began four to eight days after initiation of treatment. The clinical signs of corneal infection disappeared after three to six weeks and visual acuties improved markedly. In two cases the improvement was very slow and remain stationary for long time and in two cases the ulcer progress no sings of improvement was noted after six weeks. No systemic or topical signs of toxicity or adverse reactions were recorded
