ABSTRACT
erythro-Methyl-2,3-dibromo-3-arylpropanoates were converted to the corresponding E- and Z-2-bromo-3-arylpropenoic 1 by alcoholic pottassium hydroxide. Esterification of both isomeric acids with methanol-sulphuric acid gave Z-methyl esters 2. The assignment of the configuration was based on spectral studies
