ABSTRACT
The present study was carried out on 154 women attending five health centres [comprehensive and MCH] in Tanta. Assessment of the respondents, knowledge about vaccination was done through the use of a specially designed interview schedule [pre-test]. It included the name of the vaccine, the age at which the vaccine is given, side effects, and measures to relieve them. Mothers were then exposed to health education about these items which was followed by repeating the same questions for a second time [post-test]. Data were analyzed to evaluate the effect of health education as well as to determine the factors affecting the level of mothers, knowledge and its change. The results of the study revealed a significant improvement in motliers knowledge after the health education program. The study also indicated that age level of education and working status of the mothers were significant variables in determination of the level of mothers' knowledge. Better scores were observed among older mothers and those with higher education. On the other hand, non-working mothers showed higher scores. Moreover, the level of education was the best significant single determinant of mothers, knowledge and of the observed post education improvement
