Compliance of regimen among cardiac patients submitted to mitral valve replacement after exposure to a teaching program

ABSTRACT
The purpose of this study was to design and implement a comprehensive program for cardiac patients after valve replacement and to evaluate its effect of the knowledge and compliance of cardiac patients. Several variables have been reported to affect compliance. Such factors are health related motivations, perceptions of costs and various aspects of the physician/patient relationship. The sample consisted of study group composed of thirty patients admitted to Cairo University hospital for cardiac valve replacement. The sample chosen was followed up after discharge. A control group of thirty patients was also studied. From the study it was concluded that teaching is one of the responsibilities of the nurse. Teaching had a positive effect on the compliance of patients to their regimen
