First report on co-infection of legionellosis and tuberculosis in Iran

ABSTRACT

An unconscious 50-year old man with symptoms of pneumonia who was suspected of having tuberculosis was studied. The clinical manifestations, chest radiography, CT scan and isolation of Mycobacterium tuberculosis from pulmonary aspirates indicated tuberculous meningitis. Therefore, he was treated with antituberculosis drugs. In spite of treatment, the patient's condition worsened and further treatment was ineffective, and the patient died soon after.
