Depressed skull fractures in children: an analysis of 100 cases

ABSTRACT
One hundred children [below 15 years of age] who sustained cranio-cerebral trauma complicated by depressed skull fractures were studied. Fifty eight per cent [58%] were due to domestic accidents and sport, 30% were due to road traffic accidents, while 12% were due to assaults. Compound fractures constituted 80%, while 20% were simple. The incidence of epilepsy was 8% and the mortality was 3%
