Relationship between managerial strategy and nurses' commitment at private hospitals

ABSTRACT
Nurses' commitment is crucial issue from both a theoretical and managerial perspectives. Therefore, to strengthen the involvement of nurses in the organization, it is necessary to identify the process by which commitment is promoted in their workplace. The study aims to investigate the relationship between managerial strategy and nurse's commitment. The study was conducted in all units at three private hospitals with bed capacity more than 75 beds namely. El-Salama hospital, Germany hospital, Mebarah El-Asafr hospital. All nurses in the middle first and practical managerial levels with at least one year experience in the previously mentioned settings were included in the study [n=247] Organizational commitment questionnaire developed by Brewer et al [1995] was used to identify the relationship between the managerial strategy, and nurse' commitment. The questionnaire consists of 69 items grouped in three dimensions namely management strategy, nurse's commitment, and], nurse's resistance. There was moderate positive significant correlation between management strategy and overall nurse' commitment, as well as moderate positive significant correlation between overall management strategy and overall nurses' resistance to work
