Enteral nutrition as source of nosocomial pneumonia

ABSTRACT

Ten out of thirteen patients with nosomial pneumonia were among those identified for nasogastric tube feedings with solutions contaminated with > 10(5) cfu/ml. Isolates from four of them had identical antimicrobial suscesptibilities patterns than those from the enteral nutrition solutions. Our investigation suggests that the nasogastric tube feeding is a potencial route of pneumonia
