RESUMO
The authors describe two patients submitted to total hiparthroplasty due to hip dysplasia, with the contralaterallimb amputated after proximal focal femoral deficiency. Acementless prosthesis was implanted in the first patient, and is working well after three years of follow-up. The second patient had a shallow acetabulum, and the femoralhead was employed as a graft, and a cemented device was applied. She has a well functioning hip, after a period ofsix months of follow-up. The new hip gave these patients abetter quality of life with pain relief, but medium and long term follow-up complications can be anticipated. The patients are young and the limb is the only one supportingthe patient's weight. The authors did not find any similar description in the literature
