Fcatores de riesgo del conflicto marital / Risk factors of the marital conflict

RESUMEN

El presente artículo revisa la investigación y la teoría referentes a los factores de riesgo de conflicto de la relación de la pareja, particularmente los que tienen que ver con los procesos de comunicación, los de motivación y los cognoscitivos. Estos procesos generales se analizan en función de las cuatro etapas propuestas por Castro para entender la evolución de la relación de pareja (iniciación, conquista, conocimiento, afecto y compromiso), mostrando como el progreso en la etapas determina cambios a nivel de los procesos que sin los reajustes adaptativos convenientes, generan conflictos que pueden culminar con la separación y el divorcio. Así mismo, se proponen estrategias a nivel preventivo de manera que los conflictos sean controlados, no permitiendo su iniciación.

ABSTRACT

This Article reviews the research and theories that relate to the risk factors in conflicts between couples. There is emphasis on those factors that affect the process of communication, motivation and cognition. These general processes are analyzed in relation to the four stages proposed by Castro that explain the evolution of the relationships between a couple (initiation, conquest, knowledge, affection and commitment). The article show how the progression of a relationship through the stages creates changes within the partners which, without the appropriated adaptive behavioral changes, will generate conflicts which, without the appropriate adaptive behavioral changes, will generate conflicts which may terminate in separation and divorce. Finally, the article suggest preventive strategies which assist in controlling conflict situations so that they do not occur.
