ABSTRACT

Objective: to know mothersÆ perception on the attendance provided to their children by medicine students of the eleventh phase of the course in the Pediatric outpatients unit of the University Hospital of the Federal University of Santa Catarina. Methods: The study was qualitative, case study and data were collected through semi-structured interviews. The sample was composed by 20 mothers of children attending at the General Pediatrics outpatients unit. Results: mothers were satisfied with the assistance and pointed out as factors that influenced their satisfaction, the studentÆs reception, attention, education and affection and the clear explanations given by them and the detailed physical examination carried out by them. The factors that limited their satisfaction were the delay in being called and the lack of continuity of the assistance by the same student, which difficults the bond. Final considerations it is discussed the importance of the affective dimension of doctor-patient relationship to health care service usersÆ satisfaction with and it is suggested that strategies should be developed to propitiate the patients being assisted by the same student for a longer period.

RESUMO

Objetivo: conhecer a percepção de mães sobre o atendimento prestado a seus filhos por acadêmicos da 11ª fase do curso de Medicina no Ambulatório de Pediatria do Hospital Universitário da Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina. Metodologia: o estudo foi qualitativo, tipo estudo de caso e os dados foram coletados por meio de entrevista semi-estruturada. A amostra estudada constituiu-se por 20 mães de crianças atendidas no Ambulatório de Pediatria Geral. Resultados: as mães estavam satisfeitas com o atendimento no ambulatório e apontaram como fatores que influenciaram a sua satisfação, o acolhimento, a atenção, educação e o carinho dos acadêmicos, as explicações claras dadas por eles e o exame físico realizado com minúcia. Os fatores que limitaram sua satisfação foram a demora para serem atendidas e a falta de continuidade do atendimento pelo mesmo acadêmico, prejudicando o vínculo. Considerações finais discute-se a importância da dimensão afetiva na relação médico-paciente para satisfação dos usuários com o serviço e sugere-se que estratégias deveriam ser desenvolvidas para propiciar que os pacientes sejam atendidos pelo mesmo estudante por um período maior.
