ABSTRACT
To achieve the professional profile that isexpected from technical-level health qualifications, itis necessary to develop learning of distinct natures, denominated herein as belonging to the conceptual, technical, ethical, and political realms. In Brazil, suchqualifications have been provided largely by the SingleHealth Systems Technical Schools (SHSTS). Basedon the assumption that these qualifications are largelyguided by the technical dimension, to the detrimentof the other ones, a study was carried out toanalyze the curricula developed at the SHSTS aimingat identifying emphases and reduction in theseschools curricula. The study was carried out in thestate of São Paulo and was based on the analysis of theschools political and pedagogical projects and on interviewsdone with their directors and professors. The initial assumption was not validated, at least inpart, since it was noticed that there was the intentionto seek qualifications that highlighted ethical and politicallearning, in addition to a severe criticism of theso-called traditional education model that centers onpractical training, replaced by a strong non-directivecharacter in the teaching-learning process. The studyalso pointed, however, to a major reduction in theconceptual and technical dimensions, something thatmay be compromising the professional qualificationproposal for the Single Health System.
