Avaliação da condição periodontal adjacente a superfícies proximais restauradas em material resinoso, comparativamente a superfícies não restauradas / Evaluation of periodontal status adjacent to interproximal surfaces restored with composite resin, in comparison with non-restored interproximal surfaces

RESUMO

Objetivo: Avaliar a condição periodontal adjacente a superfícies restauradas em material resinoso, comparativamente a superfícies não restauradas. Métodos: Foram avaliadas, em 65 pacientes, 145 superfícies restauradas e 145 não restauradas. Resultados: A maioria das superfícies restauradas (54,3%) apresentava alteração radiográfica, que se apresentou mais elevada entre as restaurações que apresentavam excesso clinicamente (56,8% x 52,8%), as que tinham falta de material (64,5% x 51,4%), as com sobrecontorno (67,7% x 44,4%), as que apresentavam sangramento (55,1% x 40%) e as que tinham profundidade de sondagem superior a 3,0 mm (64,3% x 52,9%). Entretanto, não se comprovou associação significativa para nenhuma das variáveis. Apenas 24,4% das superfícies não restauradas apresentaram alteração radiográfica, mas também não se comprovou associação significativa com suas variáveis. Conclusão: Os resultados demonstraram uma diferença estatisticamente significativa entre as alterações radiográficas observadas nas superfícies restauradas e nas superfícies não restauradas.

ABSTRACT

Objective: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the periodontal status of interproximal surfaces restored with composite resin, in comparison with non-restored interproximal surfaces. Methods: In 65 patients, we analyzed 145 restored surfaces and 145 non-restored surfaces. Results: Most of the restored surfaces (54.3%) showed radiographic alterations, which was shown to be higher among restorations with clinically detected proximal excess (56.8% x 52.8%); with lack of restorative material (64.5% x 51.4%); in restorations with proximal overhang (67.7% x 44.4%); in teeth with gingival inflammation?/bleeding (55.1% x 40.0%) and in teeth with probing depth exceeding 3 mm (64.3% x 52.9%). However, there were no significant associations for these variables. Of the non-restored surfaces, 24.4% showed radiographic alterations, however there were no significant associations. Conclusion: The results showed a statistical significance for radiographic alterations in restored and non-restored surfaces.
