Meningiomas múltiples: ¿qué tan benigna resulta su presencia? / Multiple Meningiomas: how benign do they turn out?

RESUMEN

Los meningiomas son los tumores intracraneales extraaxiales más comunes, generalmente son benignos y de crecimiento lento. Se considera meningiomas múltiples (MM) cuando un paciente sin Neurofibromatosis tipo II (NF-II) presenta más de un meningioma dentro del Sistema Nervioso Central (SNC); independientemente de que se presenten simultáneamente o separados en el tiempo. Presentamos un caso de una paciente con MM en quien el curso de la enfermedad no fue bueno, lo cual es inusual para los meningiomas.

ABSTRACT

Meningiomas are the most common extraaxial intracranial tumors, they are usually benign and grow slowly. Multiple meningioma (MM) is a condition in which a patient without neurofibromatosis type II (NF-II) has more than one meningioma inside the Central Nervous System; simultaneously or separed by a time lapse. We present a case of MM in which the course of the disease was not good, this is not usual with meningiomas.
