Síndrome climatérico asociado a la hipertensión arterial en mujeres de edad mediana / Climacteric syndrome associated with arterial hypertension in middle-aged females

RESUMEN

Se realizó un estudio de casos y controles en el Consultorio Médico No. 5 del Policlínico Universitario 26 de Julio del municipio Playa en el período comprendido desde el 1ro. de abril de 2006 al 30 de junio del propio año. Se inició a partir del análisis del registro de dispensarización, con el objetivo de poder identificar a todas las pacientes hipertensas crónicas esenciales, comprendidas entre las edades de 40 a 59 años. Por cada mujer hipertensa dispensarizada, se seleccionó un control normotensa de igual edad y raza aparente, para de esta forma valorar cómo se presentaban las manifestaciones del síndrome climatérico en ambos grupos. Como criterio de exclusión se estableció lo siguiente mujeres diabéticas o con complicaciones renales o del sistema nervioso central, con el fin de evitar incorporar mujeres hipertensas de carácter secundario, así como tampoco se incluyeron a aquellas con algún tipo de menopausia artificial. Se concluyó que las manifestaciones del síndrome climatérico estuvieron presentes en ambos grupos, pero con mayor predominio en las mujeres hipertensas, y con diferencias significativas en algunos de los síntomas como la ansiedad, la cefalea, las palpitaciones, la irritabilidad y los calambres.

ABSTRACT

A case-control study was conducted at the Family Physician's Office No. 5 of 26 de Julio Teaching Polyclinic, in Playa municipality, from April 1 to June 30, 2006. It was started from the analysis of the categorization register aimed at identifying all the chronic essential hypertensive females aged 40-59. Per every categorized hypertensive female, a normotensive control with the same age and apparent race was selected to assess the manifestations of the climacteric syndrome in both groups. Diabetic females or with renal or central nervous system complications were excluded to avoid the incorporation of hypertensive females of secondary character. Those females with some type of artificial menopause were not included either. It was concluded that the manifestations of the climacteric syndrome were present in both groups, but basically in the hypertensive, and with significant differences in symptoms such as anxiety, headache, palpitations, irritability and cramps.
