Adultos jovens portadores de HIV: análise dos processos subjetivos no enfrentamento da doença / Young adults with HIV: an analysis of the subjective processes facing the illness

RESUMO

Este estudo procura investigar de que forma adultos jovens portadores do vírus HIV, em processo de tratamento anti-retroviral, pensam e encaram o problema da AIDS. A partir de uma abordagem qualitativa, torna-se possível problematizar questões subjetivas relativas a preconceito, exclusão social, métodos preventivos, enfrentamento da doença e adesão ao tratamento, entre outros temas referentes ao ser e sentir-se portador. Procura-se analisar quais são as perspectivas de vida desses sujeitos e, se constatadas, quais mudanças, físicas ou psíquicas, ocorreram a partir da adesão ao tratamento medicamentoso. A pesquisa mostrou que os sujeitos têm uma expectativa positiva ante o tratamento com anti-retrovirais. A possibilidade de uma melhor qualidade de vida no que se refere à longevidade e aos aspectos físicos e/ou psíquicos é o ponto fundamental, apesar dos possíveis efeitos colaterais que o tratamento pode causar.

ABSTRACT

This study aims to review how the, who were pharmacologically treated, face their illness problems. Based on a qualitative approach, it is possible to detect problems regarding prejudices, social exclusion, prevention methods, coping strategies, and other issues related to an HIV patient. The perspectives of these patients' life are analyzed as well as the psychological and bodily changes concerning to the treatment adherence. The research showed that those subjects have a positive expectation to the treatment. The chance of a better quality of life involving de longevity and physical or psychical characteristics is very important, despite of the possible collateral effects caused by the treatment.
