ABSTRACT
Adaptation is a key biological concept in the theory of the sporting training. The paradigm of the same is the Selyes physiologic theory of changes because it refers to phenotypic changes. However, its use in the Sport contrasts with the Biology and Biological Anthropology that refers to genotypic changes. In function of that, it was suggested more recently to use the concept adjustment to explain phenotypic changes resulting from the environmental stimulation. The objective of this review is to demonstrate that the concept adjustment is more appropriate for the Sport to explain the current changes of the physical training than the adaptation, without committing its theoretical base.
