Reflexiones sobre dolor no físico y sufrimiento desde la perspectiva de enfermería / Reflections on the nonphysical pain and suffering from the nursing perspective

RESUMEN

El dolor, sea de naturaleza física o no, es un concepto central dentro de las inquietudes de cualquier humanista por las consecuencias que puede acarrear para el hombre. El sufrimiento, como reacción psicológica puede existir en el hombre independientemente uno del otro. Se realizó revisión bibliográfica de forma descriptiva, por un grupo de autores pertenecientes a la comunidad científica de la Filial Camagüey en el 2007, con el objetivo de profundizar los conocimientos en una temática tan álgida como el dolor no físico y el sufrimiento, mostrando nuestras reflexiones desde la perspectiva de enfermería. Para hacer comprensible el desarrollo de esta temática se abordaron las diferencias entre dolor y sufrimiento, conceptos, cómo evitar o disminuir los sufrimientos humanos, diferencias entre dolor físico y no físico, duelo, proceso de duelo, taxonomías diagnósticas y factores relacionantes, así como características definitorias y plan de atención a las necesidades espirituales. Estas reflexiones llevaron a la conclusión de que a pesar de que los dolores del alma no se calman pues siempre se llevan consigo, se hace necesario que atendamos las necesidades espirituales siempre que sea posible, para al menos minimizar los efectos que tanto daño ocasionan y forman parte de la tarea de humanizar. Se describen las acciones, recordando siempre que una intervención efectiva es como una mano extendida, como un puente de salvación que lograría sin lugar a duda, mejorar la calidad de vida de los individuos que se encuentran afectados por este sentimiento(AU)

ABSTRACT

Pain of physical origin or not, is a central concept within the concerns of any humanist due to the consequences it may have for men. Suffering as a psychological reaction may exist in men independently from each other. A descriptive bibliographic review was made by a group of authors of the scientific community of the Medical Sciences Branch of Camaguey to go deep into the knowledge of such a critical topic as non-physical pain and suffering, showing our reflections from the nursing perspective. To make understandable the development of this topic, we approached the differences between pain and suffering, concepts such as how to avoid or decrease human suffering, differences between physical and non-physical pain, mourning and mourning process, diagnostic taxonomies, and relating factors, as well as definitive characteristics, and plan of attention to spiritual needs. We concluded that in spite of the fact that the pains of the soul do not relieve because men always carry them, it is necessary to pay attention to the spiritual needs to minimize at least the harmful effects caused, and that are part of the humanizing task. We describe the actions to be performed, reminding always that a true intervention, is like a extended hand, as a salvation bridge that would improve the quality of life of the individuals affected by this feeling(AU)
