RESUMEN

Se realizó un estudio de tipo ensayo comunitario en el municipio Julio Antonio Mella de la provincia de Santiago de Cuba durante el 2007, con vista a medir el nivel de conocimientos de todas las mujeres identificadas como víctimas de violencia intrafamiliar en ese territorio, desarrollar a la vez un proceso de intervención educativa y evaluar la modificación de los conocimientos después de efectuada esta última. Se utilizó el porcentaje como medida de resumen y se aplicó el test de Mc Nemar para validar estadísticamente la efectividad de las acciones, lo cual reveló cambios de actitudes satisfactorios en las féminas con respecto a su verdadero papel como ser social, de modo que se recomendó promover la creación de espacios para la reflexión y discusión grupal en la comunidad sobre tan importante asunto, así como ofrecer cursos de capacitación para prevenir las manifestaciones de comportamientos inadecuados en el seno del hogar.

ABSTRACT

A study of community-trial type was carried out in Julio Antonio Mella municipality from Santiago de Cuba province during the 2007, with the aim of measuring the knowledge level of all the identified women as victims of family violence in that territory, developing at the same time a process of educational intervention and evaluating the modification to the knowledge after finishing the intervention. The percentage was used as a summary measure and the Mc Nemar test was applied to validate statistically the effectiveness of the actions, what revealed satisfactory changes of attitudes in the female group with regard to their true role as social being, so it was recommended to promote the creation of spaces for reflection and group discussion in the community on such an important matter, as well as to offer training courses to prevent the manifestations of inappropriate behaviors at home.
