ABSTRACT

We emphasize the incidence of diabetes and the metabolic syndrome, because the prevalence rates of diabetes have increased, which results in a great number of complications such as microvascular complaints, neuropathies and a higher cardiovascular risk. The chronic complications of diabetes results in a great economic-social cost, and constitues a major publich health problem. Almost all the undiagnosed cases of diabetes are type II, since type I is generally associated with more dramatic symptoms requiring definitive treatment...
