RESUMO
A aparatologia ortodôntica dificulta a higiene bucal e pode contribuir para a formação da hiperplasia gengival inflamatória. 1 Esta pode ser reversível em alguns casos, através da orientação da higiene bucal e da terapia periodontal básica. Entretanto, na maioria das vezes, há a necessidade do tratamento cirúrgico. O propósito deste trabalho é o de apresentar casos clínicos depacientes sob tratamento ortodôntico que desenvolveram a hiperplasia gengival. Foram discutidas as modalidades terapêuticas a serem empregadas, bem como a orientação do encaminhamento destas lesões ao exame histopatológico, uma vez que existem diversas patologias que se apresentam clinicamente como esta lesão.
ABSTRACT
The orthodontic appliance difficult the oral hygiene and can contribute to the development of the inflammatory gingival hyperplasia. This may be reversible in some cases, by oral hygiene orientation and basic periodontal therapy. However most of the times, there is the necessity of surgical treatment. The purpose of this article is to present clinical cases of patients under orthodontic treatment who development gingival overgrowth. The therapeutic modalities employed were discussed, as like as in the guiding of these lesions to the histopathologic exam, since there are severa1 pathologies that present clinically similar to this lesion.
