RESUMO
A variabilidade das estruturas dentofaciais, nos diversos grupos étnicos, leva o ortodontista a buscar, cada vez mais, informações científicas que possam ser utilizadas com segurança nas definições do diagnóstico e do plano de tratamento. Assim, o objetivo deste artigo consistiu na revisão das características morfológicas da má-oclusão de Classe II, Divisão I, identificando, quais componentes esqueléticos e/ou dentários contribuem para o seu estabelecimento. De acordo com a literatura revisada, concluiu-se que geralmente a maxila apresenta-se bem posicionada, estando em alguns casos protruída e a mandíbula retruída e com tamanho reduzido; a altura facial ântero-inferior encontra-se aumentada. Os incisivos superiores apresentam-se protruídos e os inferiores com grande variabilidade de posição.
ABSTRACT
The variability of dentofacial structures in the different ethnical leads orthodontists to search increasingly more for scientific information, which can be used with safety to define diagnoses and treatment plans. Like this. the object of this paper is to review literature about the morphologic characteristics of malocclusion in Class II, Division 1 patients by identifying which skeletal and/or dental components contributes to your establishment. Based in the revised, it was concluded that the jawbone usually comes well positioned, being some cases protruded, and the jaw, retried and with reduced size. The antero-inferior face height is increased. The superior incisors come protruded and inferior come with great position variability.
