Feminismo negro: raça, identidade e saúde reprodutiva no Brasil (1975-1996) / Black feminism: race, identity and reprodutive health in Brasil

RESUMO

Este trabalho aborda as interfaces entre gênero, raça/etnia e saúde no Brasil, entre os anos de 1975 e 1996, tendo como foco de estudo a importância da saúde reprodutiva para o movimento de mulheres negras no país. O marco inicial da pesquisa é 1975 – data do surgimento do movimento feminista organizado no Brasil - e se estende até o ano 1996, momento em que as ações das “feministas negras” em torno da saúde reprodutiva repercutem no âmbito da saúde pública. Analiso a história do feminismo negro no país, a partir das relações entre as ativistas negras e os movimentos feminista e negro. Esta história, em meados da década de 1980 sofre uma inflexão, pois as militantes reivindicam a criação de uma identidade própria, o feminismo negro, já que não havia até então um debate amplo sobre as interfaces entre raça e gênero no interior do movimento feminista e negro respectivamente. A questão da saúde reprodutiva - que tomou por base denúncias de esterilizações cirúrgicas contra mulheres negras na década de 1980- aparece como a mola propulsora do ativismo e da constituição de um feminismo negro no país, entre os anos de 1980 a 1990. Meu trabalho, por um lado, investiga o contexto em que emergem tais denúncias e, por outro, analisa os debates que embasaram a relação entre as ativistas negrase a saúde pública no Brasil nesse período.

ABSTRACT

This work analyses the interfaces between gender, race/ethnicity and health in Brazil, between the years 1975 and 1996, focusing study of the importance of reproductive health for the movement of black women in the country. The first milestone of the study is 1975 - the date of emergence of organized feminist movement in Brazil - and runs to the year 1996, when theactions of "black feminist" around reproductive health impact in public health. Analyze the history of black feminism in the country, from the relationships between black activists and the feminist movement and black. This story in the middle of decade 1980have a change, as the militants demanded the creation of its own identity, feminism black, since then there wasn’t a wide debate about the interfaces between race and gender within the feminist movement and black respectively. The issue of reproductive health - which has based on accusations of surgical sterilizations against black women in the 1980s – impulsed allactivism and the formation of a black feminism in the country, between the years 1980 to 1990. My work on the one hand, investigates the context in which such allegations arise, and examines the debates that based the relationship between black activists and public health in the Brazil in this moment.
