ABSTRACT
Congenital lobar emphysema is a rare pulmonary malformation, characterized by lung hyperinflation, with left upper lobe most affected (43%). Symptoms appear more often in the first six months of life, with manifestations of dyspnea and cyanosis, and the clinical diagnosis confirmed by chest radiography. It is associated with some malformations, mostly cardiac. Lobectomy is the treatment of choice in critically ill children, presenting superior results to clinical treatment. This paper reports the case of an infant who underwent lobectomy and evolved with significant improvement of clinical status.
