Tradução e validação portuguesa do revised life orientation test (LOT-R) / Portuguese translation and validation of the revised life orientation test (LOT-R)

RESUMO

No presente trabalho é descrita a adaptação para a língua portuguesa do Revised Life Orientation Test (LOT-R), que permite a avaliação do Otimismo Disposicional como característica estável. Após ter sido traduzido e retrovertido, com a ajuda de peritos, o LOT-R foi administrado a uma amostra de estudantes universitários (N=790), e foi avaliada a consistência interna, a validade de construto e a validade concorrente. As propriedades psicométricas encontradas atestam a qualidade do instrumento. A análise fatorial mostra que a estrutura de um fator é a mais ajustada, à semelhança da estrutura fatorial encontrada no modelo original. A correlação positiva entre o LOT-R e o Instrumental and Expressive Social Support Scale (IESSS) confirma a hipótese relativa à validade de critério.

ABSTRACT

In this work we describe the adaptation for the European Portuguese languageof the Revised Life Orientation Test (LOT-R), which allows the evaluationof Dispositional Optimism as a steady characteristic. After having been translated both ways with the support and help of experts in the area, LOT-R was applied to a sample of university students (N=790), and the respective internal consistency, construct validation and concurrent validitywere properly assessed. The detected psychometric properties substantiate the quality of such a tool. Factorial analysis shows that the structure of afactor is the most suitable similarly to the factorial structure found in thesource model. The positive correlation between LOT-R and the Instrumentaland Expressive Social Support Scale (IESSS) confirms the hypothesisabout the criterion validity.
