JUSTIFICATIVA E OBJETIVOS:
O objetivo deste estudo foi identificar o número de pacientes portadores, ou em tratamento, de hepatites pelos vírus B e C em hospital público de referência para doenças infecciosas no estado de Minas Gerais.MÉTODO:
Trata-se de estudo observacional e transversal. O tamanho da amostra estudada foi calculado a partir dos 1776 prontuários, considerando-se a incidência populacional de 7% para hepatite B e de 2% para a hepatite C. Foram avaliados 134 prontuários, sendo nove excluídos por não preencherem os critérios de inclusão.RESULTADOS:
Dentre os 125 prontuários analisados, foram identificados 4 pacientes com diagnóstico de hepatite B; 29 pacientes com contato prévio com o vírus da hepatite B; e 10 indivíduos com hepatite C.CONCLUSÃO:
Os dados encontrados foram compatíveis com os observados no Boletim Epidemiológico das Hepatites Virais, publicado pelo Ministério da Saúde em 2010. O controle epidemiológico das hepatites virais requer ampliação da estrutura de atendimento clínico e laboratorial em todos os níveis da atenção à saúde.ABSTRACT
BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES:
This study tried to identify the number of patients with hepatitis B and C in a public hospital,reference to infectious diseases treatment in Minas Gerais, Brazil.METHOD:
it is an observational and cross sectional essay. The sample size was estimated from the 1776 records, considering the population incidence of 7% for hepatitis B and 2% for hepatitis C, respectively. Researchers have evaluated 134 medical records, of which 9 were excluded for not fulfilling inclusion criteria.RESULTS:
Among the 125 analyzed charts we identified four patients with chronic hepatitis B, 29 with prior contact with hepatitis B virus and 10 with hepatitis C.CONCLUSION:
Data were consistent with those observed in Viral Hepatitis Epidemic Report, published by Brazilian Ministry of Health, in 2010. The epidemiological control of viral hepatitis requires the improvement of clinical and laboratorial services at all levels of health care.
