El empecinamiento diagnóstico y el encarnizamiento terapéutico alteran la relación médico-paciente / How the stubbornness diagnostic and the therapeutic bitterness have altered the doctor-patient relationship

RESUMEN

Se intenta explicar los mecanismos de dos aspectos del acto médico actual que muestran el deterioro que ha sufrido la tradicional relación médico-paciente. El primero, el empecinamiento diagnóstico, surgió por la frecuencia con la que muchos medicos se dedican a atender un cuerpo enfermo como si fuera una máquina descompuesta y no una persona necesitada de ayuda. El segundo, el encarnizamiento terapéutico, se evidencia en enfermedades terminales, incurables o en ancianos con una sumatoria de complicaciones, administrando todo tipo de tratamiento sin atender al bienestar de un período terminal de la vida.

ABSTRACT

One tries to explain the system, wich encouraged the two aspects of the medical action at the present time, showing the deterioration that has suffered the traditional doctor-patient relationship. The first one, the stubbornness diagnostic, due to the frecuency that a doctor treated an ill body, as if it were a broken machine instead of a person in need of help. The se cond one, the therapeutic bitterness, shows itself with terminal illnesses, incurable or with old people having a serious medical complications, administering all kind of treatments, but without considering the wellbeing of a person at the end of their life. Also when there are innecessary surgeries or following the rules of Medicine Based on Evidence, it is important to follow the patient with comprehensible explanations keeping only with rational proves.
