O conflito do trapiche preto: um confronto entre as torcidas dos clubes de remo porto-alegrenses / The black pier conflict: a confrontation between fans of Porto Alegre rowing clubs

RESUMO

Os primeiros clubes de remo de Porto Alegre foram fundados por teuto-brasileiros na segunda metade do século XIX. No princípio do século XX, luso-brasileiros também se fizeram representar nesse esporte. Os clubes de remadores representavam identidades culturais de imigrantes europeus na cidade e as regatas eram espaços de disputas acirradas entre esses grupos sociais. No principal campeonato de remo do Rio Grande do Sul, ocorrido no ano de 1911, houve um grande tumulto entre os torcedores dos clubes de remo o Conflito do Trapiche Preto. Este estudo busca investigar quais os significados do conflito entre as torcidas dos clubes Ruder Verein Germania e Grêmio de Regatas Almirante Tamandaré no campeonato de remo ocorrido no ano de 1911 em Porto Alegre? Para responder esta questão de pesquisa, foram analisadas informações coletadas em jornais porto-alegrenses que circulavam no período. O campeonato estadual de remo realizado anualmente expressava a hierarquização de posições entre os clubes. O conflito entre torcidas do Ruder Verein Germania e as do Grêmio de Regatas Almirante Tamandaré expressou as lutas de representações de identidades culturais entre teuto-brasileiros e luso-brasileiros no campo esportivo.

ABSTRACT

The first rowing clubs in Porto Alegre were founded by German-Brazilians during the second half of the 19th century. In the early 20th century, Portuguese-Brazilians also attained a greater presence in this sport. Rowing clubs represented cultural identities of European immigrants settled in the city, and regattas were the fields of heated disputes between social groups. In the main rowing championship of Rio Grande do Sul state, held in 1911, there was a great tumult between fans of rowing clubs the Black Pier Conflict. This study aims to investigate what the meanings of the conflict between the fans of clubs Ruder Verein Germania and Grêmio de Regatas Almirante Tamandaré in the 1911 rowing championship, in Porto Alegre. To answer this research question, the study analyzed reports in newspapers circulating in Porto Alegre during that period. The annual State Championship expressed the hierarchy of position between the clubs. The conflict between fans of Ruder Verein Germania and Grêmio de Regatas Almirante Tamandaré expressed the struggles to represent cultural identities between Portuguese-Brazilians and German-Brazilians in the realm of sport.
