RESUMO

Conhecer os princípios que regem a odontologia estética e as possibilidades restauradoras oferecidas pelas resinas compostas, com destaque para suas propriedades físicas e ópticas, permite ao clínico indicá-las nas reconstituições anatômica e funcional da estrutura dentária. Nesse sentido, este artigo relata uma situação clínica, na qual o emprego de resinas compostas permitiu a recuperação estética e funcional de dentes anteriores superiores em que havia alteração de forma, com ênfase no restabelecimento da guia do dente canino.

ABSTRACT

The acknowledgement of the principles that rule the esthetic dentistry and the restorative approaches achieved by composite resins, especially due to their physical and optical properties, allows the clinician to indicate them for anatomic and functional restoration of the tooth structure. This article is aimed to report a clinical case in which the use of composite resins allowed the esthetic and functional restoration of maxillary anterior teeth with alteration of shape, with emphasis on the reestablishment of the canine tooth guidance.
