Representações sociais de crianças participantes de um ensaio clínico sobre o pesquisador: de detentor do saber à criança curiosa / Social representations of children participating in a clinical trial, about the researcher: the holder of knowledge to the curious child

RESUMO

Intervenções educativas constituem importantes ferramentas para a ampliação do conhecimento científico e em ensaios clínicos devem contribuir para a tomada de decisão quanto à participação na pesquisa. Visando a educação de crianças residentes em área endêmica em ancilostomíase, na zona rural de Minas Gerais, onde é desenvolvido um ensaio clínico, elaborou-se uma intervenção educativa pautada na contação de história, por meio da performance de palhaços clownescos. No presente estudo buscou-se analisar as reverberações, sobre as representações sociais de crianças acerca do pesquisador, a partir de uma intervenção educativa. A intervenção mostrou-se potente para a fragilização dos (pré)conceitos circulantes entre as crianças sobre o pesquisador. Emergiu dos discursos das crianças a representação do pesquisador como detentor do saber, salvador, figura distante da realidade das crianças. A partir da intervenção, essas representações são acrescidas de novos significados aquele que já foi criança, é curioso, que faz perguntas e interage na busca de conhecimentos. Ao ampliar as significações das crianças sobre o pesquisador, a intervenção educativa pode contribuir para o processo de decisão ao qual crianças e responsáveis serão convidados, em relação à participação ou não no ensaio clínico...

ABSTRACT

Educational interventions are important tools to broaden scientific knowledge and, in clinical trials, must contribute to the decision making process regarding participation in research. Aiming to scientifically educate children residing in a hookworm endemic area, situated in a rural area of Minas Gerais state, where a clinical trial is being conducted, an educational intervention, based on storytelling through clowning performance, was developed. The present study endeavored to analyze the reverberations of this intervention on the children’s social representations concerning the researcher. The intervention has been shown to be very powerful in undermining (pre)concepts about the researcher that circulate among children. In children’s speech the representation of the researcher as knowledge holder and savior, a person distant from their reality has emerged. From the educational intervention onwards, new meanings were added to those representations of a researcher who had once been a child, who is curious, asks questions and interacts, in a quest for knowledge.
