RESUMEN

En el presente trabajo presentamos el recorrido de una investigación que se ocupa de estudiar el procesamiento en madres oyentes del diagnóstico de sordera de sus hijas sordas. La investigación fue conducida en dos partes. La primera, de carácter exploratorio, estuvo al servicio de delimitar con mayor precisión el tema. Se halló que las madres hacían referencia a tres momentos en el procesamiento de la noticia de la discapacidad de sus hijas. En la segunda etapa, descriptiva, nos propusimos examinar las características de las narraciones acerca del momento posterior al diagnóstico. Para ello recurrimos a un método de estudio de relatos, que analiza en ellos los deseos y las defensas, así como su estado. Los resultados de esta investigación pueden ser útiles para definir con mayor precisión los objetivos terapéuticos correspondientes a cada momento que atraviesan tanto las madres como toda la familia.

ABSTRACT

In this paper we present the course of a research focused on the processing by hearing mothers of the diagnoses of deafness in their daughters. The investigation consists of two parts. In the first one, exploratory, the object of our investigation was defined in a more precise way. We found three successive phases in the mothers’ processing. In the second part, descriptive, we examined the characteristics of the narrations about the moment after the diagnosis. We used a method that allows to study the discourse, analyzing wishes and defenses as well as their status. The results of this research can be useful to define more precisely the therapeutic goals for each phase, both for mothers and for the whole family.
