Objectives:
To demostrate the efficacy of anitmetabolites used as a coadjuvant of the adhesion restrictive strabismus surgical treatment. Patients andmethods:
Ten patients are being presented with diagnosis of adhesion restrictive strabismus that underwent surgical removal of the adhesions with the application of antimetabolites (5-FU or MMC depending on the case). Results:
After a follow up of between 6 months to a year, none of the patients had recurrence of the adhesions or postoperative complications due to the use of antimetabolites. Conclusions:
The application of antimetabolites on the surgical bed is an effective and simple resource to prevent new adhesions.
